Ch. 2 of Curious Researcher

Chapter 2 of the Curious Researcher was all about research methods for deciding a topic broad enough to write a full paper about it, but narrow enough to discuss specifics. What I took most from this chapter was what words/phrases to use when trying to find information. Ballenger talked about using the word "and" to relate two words and narrow your search. He also talked about the arrangement of the search words and how those are going to effect your results. He also reiterated was Rachel the librarian said about google vs. library sites such as ProQuest and how each source can give you different information. Something I will not use is the interview's. Ballenger spend a lot of the second chapter discussing different methods for interviewing, none of which I am going to use because I feel that by interviewing, the paper becomes opinion based instead of research based. And we've discussed in class that we are not creating the research such as an interview will do, we are simply finding information that is already out there and organizing it together.
