1. What factors do you think enable disco music to exist today and what beneficial things came out of it?
The factors that I think makes disco still around to day, its that its fun and upbeat. It makes people want to get up and dance. I think other genres of music use disco as a building block on how to get people to dance. Some music today can be very repetitive just like disco and it is mostly dance music. The beneficial things that came out of disco is that it allowed more women to enter the top charts and it opened a new window for clubs. Without disco, clubs may not be as popular as they are today.
2. In the 70's, disco music had a stereotype of attracting homosexuals, how do you think it is stereotyped now?
I think that the stereotype is still there, but definitely not as much as it used to be. People who grew up with the music might still associate it with homosexuals, but kids who listened to it in a different time period might just get a happy vibe.
3. Why do you think disco enthusiasts didn't have a problem with rock but rock enthusiasts cared about disco?
I think disco enthusiasts may have been more care free, and didn't really mind rock because it was popular before disco, but rock enthusiasts cared about disco because rock was more of a manly genre. Males sometimes can be more homophobic then females, so I think that may be why they thought it was "evil" and "contemptible".
