1. How can social issues, such
as race and religion affect how someone views a certain genre of music?
I believe that race and religion
do play somewhat of a big role in how someone views certain genres of music. I
think nowadays it has more to do with the people you surround yourself with and
what you grew up around. In most cases, if your parents listened to it, you
have a good chance of liking the same music. Race is put into different genres
like rap and country, for example, it is weird to see a white man/woman rapping
and also weird to see a black man/woman singing country.
2. Was this a one-time
situation/incident or is this going on in any genres today?
I think that it was a one-time
situation. I don’t think that genres will ever have such a controversial
situation again.
3 Do certain genres of music
reflect a particular population where it is unacceptable to step outside those
boundaries?
Yes, but I believe that it has
to do with the people you are influenced by within the music. Rather it be what
the rapper is talking about or the people you are actually around while
listening to it. Like certain people will listen to music and actually go do
what the song is talking about.
