de Beauvoir's argument in her essay is that men can live without women, but women cannot live with men.
I could connect de Beauvoir's argument to that of my own in my final paper but using the same approach she did. In her argument, she starts off by exclaiming just how "great" men are by using subtle sarcasm that immediately allows the reader to see that she does not agree with this thought. Her argument is successful because she states facts supporting both sides and criticizing both sides. It allows the reader more room to make their own judgements and can strengthen her point by stating the facts. I find her style very useful and will follow it closely while writing my final argument.
