Technology: the Opiate of Intellectuals

The author's argument in Technology: the Opiate of Intellectuals is whether technology is a positive or a negative McDermott. He doesn't believe that technology is a "self correcting" system which indicates he views technology as negative. He sees technology as moving us back, instead of forward.

McDermott's argument is very "in your face." Since the author uses Vietnam as a prime example or comparison, it creates a very strong and personal effect on people.
