Woman as Other- 4/24/12

De Beauvoir's argument is that women are not considered equal to men always but men are dependent on women a lot. They use them for their sexual needs, to have offspring, and for cooking and cleaning. Using what de Beauvoir says in my final paper I can discuss how far women have come since de Beauvoir's time but also discuss what still needs to be done. People used to always put masculinity with men and femininity with women but that is not always the case. Most people have a mixture of masculinity and femininity because kindness is considered feminine. Many males are kind to others while many females also have what are considered masculine traits. Does that make those kind men 100% feminine or those women with some masculine traits 100% masculine? No. Society has made it that men need to be more masculine while females need to be more feminine which is wrong.
