Woman as Other

Beauvoir's argument is that women are different than men physically, emotionally, and intellectually. She does this in a non-persuasive way, which is how the argument for our final paper is supposed to be. So explains how she views women, or how women typically view certain issues, then explains how men view the same things. One example I really enjoyed was when she spoke about male and female bodies and how they are viewed. She said (something along the lines of) women view their body as a fortress, and an instrument to power through life. Men however, view their body as a trophy -- something to show off. The augment is nuanced in how she explains these differences. Yes, men and women both see their body as important, but how there are these subtle differences. She also achieves these nuances by not using a persuasive tone. She explains how she feels by including the little differences in a matter-of-fact sort of way, which I think achieves a lot more because people are more apt to listen if their not being offended or yelled at.
