What kinds of music are battling today?
There are many different types of music within the world today. I do not think any certain types of music are particularly battling, I think it is more of artists battling. Artists within the same genres battle each other for the recognition of defining that genre. There are also artists battling from differing genres to be the best or most liked artist.
If I did have to pick two kinds of music that were battling today, I would say that rap and hip hop/pop are battling. Rap and hip hop/pop are very similar in sound and some of those artists in the genres could be considered both rap and hip hop/pop.
Do you think disco paved the way for modern hip-hop and house music?
Yes, I do think that disco paved the way for modern hip-hop and club music. Disco began the dancing and feel good era of music, which has definitely continued into our generation of music today. Disco allowed any type of artist, male or female, to be in any genre of music. Disco was a leading genre in the music of hip-hop and other genres as well.
