Technology

The argument made in this article is that technology has become a drug to society. People always seem to be in their phones, or using their iPod, or checking their e-mail. Even when people go camping nowadays, an event that is supposed to require zero technology, they have electric mattresses, and portable DVD players. Obviously, I completely agree with this article. With societies obsession with technology, it is easy to see how it can start taking over the population. It's easy to believe that soon robots will be taking over many jobs that real people currently possess!! I don't think people realize how much control technology has over their lives. Trying to get through even a single day without any technology would be near impossible! I know I couldn't do it. How much is too much? How much of this "drug addiction" is healthy? It's hard to say, and I think the answer has also been so influenced over time with this gradual advance in technology.

  1. I agree with you Caitlin, but I think think that if we HAD to go a day without technology we could. I mean I know that it would be hard, but I think that we should all could if we had to try. Although I think most of society is "addicted" I don't think that everyone is. It is mostly only the people of the younger generation.

  2. I agree with your comment, Hannah! It would be really hard to give up but we could definitely do it if we absolutely had to. I gave up texting for lent a couple years ago and I thought it would be the end of the world, but I did it! So if someone like me, who always has my phone in my hand, can give up teeing for 40 days I'm sure most others could as well.
