Chapter 9 2/2/12
What I learned from chapter 9 is the the different yearly incomes and how much each can give you. I never before understood what Jane Austen always meant by certain yearly incomes. Like the Bennet family for instance, they are not exactly poor but they are not rich in terms of that time period. They still have to use their money wisely but have enough money for a few servants and a cook. This chapter gave me a better insight on how people lived back in Austen's time. Austen does a good job of describing how rich a person is through many other ways then just telling the reader how much they make yearly. She does this by describing how they dress, what furniture they have, and how they act and talk. Austen does a good job of showing how different people view money and use it. She shows how some rich people over spend while some know how to live a good life and not go bankrupt.
