chapter one
Last time we read I read both the intro and the first chapter so I can't exactly remember what I took from the Intro and what I took from the first chapter. But as a whole, it explained how to read articles and different ways to research and get started on the finding the topic for the paper. Ballenger explained that some of the articles are going to be very difficult and boring because they are some things that we are not used to reading. I liked how he gave us the example of how some people send text messages, we may not use that type of communication or writing but we are still able to understand what is said. This is much like the articles we will have to read in order to research our topic. We may or may not understand the jargon or how the article is written but the more we spend researching that topic we are able to and gain insight into that field. Ballenger also says to always read with a pencil in your hand so that you are able to jot down notes as you read. Overall, Chapter one explained how to start reading articles and getting started on the paper.
