Quickwrite on Ballenger’s Introduction
One of the main things that I am able to take away from the introduction of this book that I can apply to my third paper is that you are able to incorporate facts, however, it is important to engage your reader/ audience and not make it read as if it were a “research paper”. Therefore, the facts that you use should have relevance and relate to your topic. The only catch is that you do not want to overload your paper with just facts. You even have the option like Ballenger to incorporate different stories from instances in your life to make it more of a friendly read then a daunting research paper.
The ending of “Theories of Intelligence” is that Ballenger was able to figure out that he was still comfortable with his own intelligence even though he was a professor teaching others, and one would think that he is supposed to be superiorly intelligent. He found through his research that he might not be as intelligent as others in his field, however, that did not mean that he was not intelligent, and that he could not be considered intelligent either. In the end you are able to see that through his life events it did not matter to him that he was not as smart as the other professors or people surrounding him, he was comfortable with where he stood and that was good enough for him.
