Quickwrite on Ballenger's Introduction

The Curious Researcher introduction talks about brainstorming, it tell me to write down different things that come to you when write. This relate to me because this is how I rewrite. Other people can help you get ideas from writing as well.  He said you can also make your paper not be all about facts, you can use personal stories. One thing I do not understand is he says that you do not need a introduction to start your research paper. I am not sure how to write a research paper so this book will be a good tool for me.
