1.       In her piece Barbara Kingsolver describes a family keeping and preventing divorces literacy by providing such examples as incomplete a gangrene leg and average marriage length of 12 years.

2.       This piece caused me some mixed feelings and also confused me a little bit. In my opinion, the author does not focus on one specific problem of failed marriage; she illustrates different reasons that cause failed marriages, such as low family income and not being able to feed a family, and being tired of a spouse and wanting to divorce.

  Moreover, I got pretty upset to face the given statistic about children who are raised in incomplete families, and I think it is pretty good that Kingsolver raised this topic.
