Barbara Kingsolver is describing
the literacy of divorce. At first in the story she talks about thinking that
people who did divorce had the option not to. She mentions how the kid feel
when family get divorce. She, coming from a family who parent stayed together, did
not think it would happen to her. My reaction to reading the piece is irony,
because she did not think it would happen to her but she not only got divorce
but was happier because of it.
