Ashleigh Ross "Stone Soup"

What literacy is Barbara Kingsolver describing in this piece?
What was your general reaction to this piece?
The literacy i think Barbara Kingsolver was describing in this story was about divorce. she talked about the differences between a nuclear family and a divorced family. when I first read this story, I was very opinionated reading it, because I come from a divorced family. Her point of view is from when she got divorced from her husband and how its hard to raise kids with a single parent. But it angered me because she did not look at it from the view point when a child's parents get divorced, and how it affects them. I realize many divorces are different, but its almost harder on the child then it is on the parents. For me my parents always fight about money and use us kids as a telephone to talk to one another. I had to mature much faster then other kids my age, because i didn't have the luxury of having 2 parents in my household. I think a nuclear family should be a fairy tale and hopefully everyone gets that chance at happiness, i think parents should work harder at a marriage to make it work, because my parents rushed their divorced and wish they tried a little bit harder.
