"Two Kinds" January 12, 2012

What about Tan's piece makes it a compelling autobiography?

This piece was a compelling autobiography because it was someone telling their story, including their feelings and point of view on every aspect. In most cases, nobody but the person who actually experiences the events in the story can really portray exactly what emotions they were feeling at certain times. The author described what happened in their life and their hatred towards being pushed to do things they did not want to try. They made me visualize their relationship with their mom and other family members in complete detail. It's like the writer is letting the audience get inside their mind and see through their eyes.
