Amy Tans piece
“Two Kinds” was a compelling autobiography. Her piece was very interesting and
told about her life as a child and how her relationship with her mother
remained the same through her mother’s life. Amy Tan put a lot of emotion into
her writing. She explained about her childhood and how she was expected to be
and how she really was. This story gives many examples of traditional life and
how some kids don’t want to be forced to be someone they’re not. Her Chinese
name is An-mel meaning “blessing in America.” To me this name is a symbol of
how her mother and others expected her to be.
