The Broken Mirror 1/19
The Broken Mirror is a good autobiography because it describes how Rushdie's life has changed since he's moved out of India. He explains that your life story can be altered by a lot of different factors including moving from an area. When he goes back to India, he says he can only see it through the eyes of who he was instead of what it is today, and that completely alters the perspective and ideas that he has about the place. This is a poor autobiography because it explains a lot about his writing processes instead of his actual life. Rushdie did a lot more in his life than just writing, I'm sure, and I feel that this autobiography was more of a story of when he wrote his books and where his ideas came from rather than just telling the story of his life. Although the two can overlap, and obviously do in this piece, I don't believe there's enough positive information to really call this a strict autobiography about the life of Rushdie.
